Crafting Visual Stories: My Journey

“I build visual frameworks that adapt to the learner’s lens—modular, emotionally clear, and audience-centered.”

I’m a visual storyteller, currently pursuing a BFA at Shepherd University while raising three incredible teenagers. In 2022, I was honored with the TCS Professionalism Award, recognizing my dedication, work ethic, and commitment to creative excellence.

From 2016 to 2019, I expanded my practice into acting, photography, video creation, and television production — deepening my passion for emotionally resonant narratives and collaborative media. These experiences, along with industry recognition, have helped me build a strong foundation in the creative arts.
My toolkit includes Adobe Premiere Pro, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Illustrator, Lightroom, and photography. I offer design, photo, and video services with a focus on clarity, mood, and impact.

Professional Journey

My creative path began in childhood, long before the digital age. I was drawn to drawing and writing—expressive outlets that shaped my early love for storytelling. Photography became another meaningful layer when I bonded with my father over his film camera, learning the basics through shared moments. As technology evolved, I transitioned to digital photography, finding it more intuitive and accessible. I deepened my skills through classes at both my high school and Hagerstown Community College.

In 2002, driven by a passion for visual communication, I enrolled in a graphic design program at a for-profit college and earned my Associate degree in 2005. Despite challenges in securing creative work, I remained committed to growth. In 2017, I joined Fairfax Public Access, where I produced Behind the Set, a local television show. There, I expanded my storytelling toolkit by learning video editing and production. In 2022, during the pandemic, I returned to college to pursue a BFA—reigniting my dedication to design, storytelling, and audience-centered creativity.

My Creative Process

My creative process begins with research—gathering ideas, emotional cues, and visual references that align with the project’s goals. I then develop digital sketches that explore layout, tone, and symbolism, inviting the client to choose the direction that resonates most. From there, I refine collaboratively through critique and iteration until the final piece feels right. Every step is audience-centered and emotionally clear. I tailor each visual framework to suit the message, context, and emotional tone—whether it’s a poster, book cover, branded guide, or photographic layout. My work flexes to meet the learner’s lens, always aiming for clarity, resonance, and accessibility.
